Computational Astrophysics Lab of NCBC-NEDUET organized the "International Observe the Moon Night 2024" event at CISE, NEDUET. Celestron's 8 inch Nexstar Evolution telescope was setup to observe the moon.

Around 40 participants gathered for this event. The participants were mainly students who observed the Moon in its Waxing Gibbous phase and its features such as craters, mountain ranges, peaks, volcanic floors and impact basins at 85x and 254x magnifications.

The participants were also able to capture images of the moon via their smartphones using camera handheld at eyepiece technique.

NCBC organized 'Robotic Telescopes in Action: Student Project Presentations' to showcase the achievements of students from previous robotic telescope training workshops.

30 students, from first-year to third-year, presented their posters and projects on a topics such as morphological classification of galaxies, and photometry of variable stars.

NCBC organized the 'Classroom to Cosmos: Robotic Telescopes 101' training for high school teachers on 5th & 6th June 2024 at CISE, NEDUET.

The participants were introduced to multiwavelength astronomy using ground-based, space-based and robotic telescopes, and extracting the data from the LCO archive.

NCBC organized the 'Classroom to Cosmos: Robotic Telescopes 101' training for high school students and their teachers on 22nd & 23rd May 2024 at CISE, NEDUET.

50+ participants attended the workshop and were introduced to multiwavelength astronomy using various telescopes, and extracting the data in the LCO archive.

NCBC organized the 'Classroom to Cosmos: Robotic Telescopes 101' training for university students on 9th May 2024 at CISE, NEDUET. More than 100 participants attended the workshop. Participants were told about the role and significance of robotic telescopes in astronomy and STEM education.

The two-day sessions include: 1) Planetary and Solar Observations 2) Deep Sky Objects' Astrophotography Session at 'Gadhi Ji Bhit' 3) Live Streaming of Sun showing Solar Flares, Sunspots and Prominences.

Computational Astrophysics lab at NCBC-NEDUET conducted a Telescopic Observation session in Science Exhibit at Ribat School on 24th Dec from 6 - 9 PM.

Around 100+ participants (homeschoolers + their families) observed moon, Jupiter and its four moons using Celestron's 8 inch Nexstar Evolution GoTo Telescope at multiple magnifications.

Although the event had science exhibits as well yet the telescopic observation session was overwhelmed by the never ending queues and enthusiasm of kids.

INTERNATIONAL OBSERVE THE MOON NIGHT 2023

International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN) 2023 was organized and celebrated at NEDUET on 23rd, October 2023. The event held from 1800 PM to 2000 PM PKT and was organized by NCBC. It was free and open to all public. Around 50 participants joined this event and observed moon using a 8 inch Celestron Nexstar Evolution GoTo Telescope. Moon was at waxing gibbous phase.

International Observe the Moon Night is a worldwide celebration of lunar science and exploration held annually since 2010. One day each year in September or October, when the Moon is around first quarter, everyone on Earth is invited to observe and learn about the Moon together, and to celebrate the cultural and personal connections we all have with our nearest neighbor.

This partnership presents an incredible opportunity to advance astronomy education, research, and outreach in Pakistan using the state-of-the-art LCO telescopes. As the Global Sky Partner, our main objective is to bring the wonders of the universe closer to people and ignite a passion for astronomy. With access to the cutting-edge LCO telescopes, we can now take astronomy education and research to new heights. We plan to organize various initiatives including workshops, seminars, and public lectures to deepen understanding and appreciation of the cosmos. This collaboration with LCO opens up endless possibilities for the advancement of astronomy in Pakistan. Additionally, we have been awarded 100.0 hours of queue scheduled time on the 0.4-meter robotic telescopes, which has a value of approximately $28,500. Space Science and Astronomy in Schools-STEM Workshop for Teachers organized by the Computational Astrophysics Lab at NCBC-NEDUET on February 21-22, 2023, was a great success. The workshop aimed to create a strong community of astronomy educators who can inspire the next generation of scientists and astronomers in Pakistan. 

The workshop was designed with a variety of sessions, including lectures, invited talks, hands-on and observation sessions.Participants were provided with workshop learning resources and training kits. Our invited online speakers were from Pakistan, UAE and European space agencies. We hosted the "Meet the IAU Astronomer" event during the workshop, which was a significant attraction for the attendees. To highlight the contributions of women in Astronomy and inspire girls and women to pursue careers in astronomy and STEM fields, we also celebrated "Girls and Women in Astronomy" during the workshop

Our guest Dr. Ghulam Sarwar (Program Coordinator (NCs, CASs, ORICs), R&D Division, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad really enjoyed the short trip and amazed us with his knowledge, potential project ideas and expertise in different scientific domains.

We demonstrated the operations of different types of telescopes to Dr. Sarwar who was very excited about them.

The place lies in the outskirts of Karachi city and the sky is Bortle class 5. It was mostly cloudy.

Astronomy Magazine featured our images (of "Annular Solar Eclipse of June 2020") in an article "Corona Light" written by Prof Dr. Jay Pasachoff.

This was a collaborated work between Computational Astrophysics Lab of NCBC-NEDUET, Mike Kentrianakis, Xavier Jubier and Dr. Jay.

Our observations and Xavier's simulations again show that the "true size of solar photosphere is slightly larger than value by IAU" as described in the article.

COMPUTATIONAL ASTROPHYSICS NCBC-NEDUET celebrating ( 50th anniversary of First Human landing on the Moon.) 2019 OFFICIAL EVENT REGISTERED ON https://www.onthemoonagain.org/

Scientists worldwide gather behind On the Moon Again to invite everyone to participate in this unifying event. On the Moon Again is an initiative of French scientists who coordinate this event with the contribution of thousands of volunteers and local coordinators. Everyone on Earth is invited to observe and learn about the Moon together, and to celebrate the cultural and personal connections we all have with our nearest neighbor.

The event is internationally organized on the night when the Moon is around first quarter. A first quarter Moon is visible in the evening right after sunset, a convenient time for most hosts and participants. Furthermore, the best lunar observing is typically after the sunset, where shadows are the longest, rather than at full Moon.

NCBC’s Computational Astrophysics Lab has planned to organize this NASA supported event. Participants will have a chance to look through an astronomical telescope to observe moon and celebrate 50th anniversary of First Human landing on the Moon. 

The event will be held on July (12-13), 2019 from 07:30-09:30 PM PKT at Port Grand, a recreational area built in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.

INTERNATIONAL OBSERVE THE MOON NIGHT 2018

International Observe the Moon Night is a worldwide celebration of lunar science and exploration held annually since 2010. One day each year in September or October, when the Moon is around first quarter, everyone on Earth is invited to observe and learn about the Moon together, and to celebrate the cultural and personal connections we all have with our nearest neighbor.

InOMN 2018 was organized and celebrated at NEDUET on 20th, October 2018. The event held from 1830 PM to 2100 PM PKT and was organized by NCBC. It was free and open to all public. Around 30 to 40 participants joined this event and observed moon using a refractor telescope. Moon was at waxing gibbous phase.
