Workshop Speakers

Workshop:1

Dr. Imran Akhtar

Professor & Head of Department, National University of Sciences & Technology

Digital Twin of a Data Center to develop Heat Map for Energy Efficiency

A digital twin is a virtual representation of a physical system, process, or object that is continuously updated with real-time data from its physical counterpart. In this workshop, we employ this concept for a data center. A data center consumes signification power and generates extensive of heat. Thus, it requires consistent cooling through HVAC systems that are installed to maintain optimal temperature. The workshop will demonstrate the use of CFD-based algorithm to simulate the flow and temperature field in a typical server room with racks and servers. Using temperature sensors placed close to the servers and flow measurements from the HVAC system, the algorithm will update itself with real time data to predict temperature distribution. This workshop will provide the to display real-time showing temperature distribution through contours and iso-surfaces. This endeavor will serve development of a digital twin of the data center for efficient monitoring and power consumption.
